Bölkow
Founded in 1948 by Ludwig Bölkow. Merged with Messerschmitt AG to form Messerschmitt-Bölkow in 1968 and in the following year merged with Hamburger Flugzeugbau (HFB) to form Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB). MBB was bought by Deutsche Aerospace AG (DASA) during 1989 (the aerospace subsidiary arm of Daimler-Benz AG) in 1989, then merged with Aérospatiale-Matra in France and Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA (CASA) in Spain in 2000 to form the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS), which is known today as Airbus Group (Airbus SE).
Dornier Flugzeugwerke
Founded in 1914 by Claude Dornier as Dornier Metallbau. Became a part of Daimler-Benz in 1985 which created several subsidiaries and the family-owned Lindauer Dornier GmbH. The majority of Dornier Aircraft was acquired by Fairchild Aircraft to form Fairchild Dornier in 1996, which went bankrupt in 2002. Many of the different subsidiaries were bought by other companies or became part of the EADS. The medtech division was sold to an investment company and is now known as Dornier MedTech which is still active today.
Dornier Seawings GmbH however is also still active because it's privately owned by the Dornier family.
