This Day Aria and the Reprise was probably the greatest song ever written for MLP. Sweet Celestia, I just loved when Chrysalis sang... and that giggle at the end. HNGGGG!
My feelings EXACTLY.
Don't tell Dashie, but I think I'm falling in love.

Brilliant epp!!! :D But one thing bugged me. Shining Armor and Cadence just came out of nowhere for these epps. These two have supposedly been a huge part of Twi's filly life but they couldn't at least hint at that in any of the previous epps?! Now suddenly they're here and now we get this super elaborate plot centered around them.
Oh, and I think you guys missed an important detail. Let me inform you in the calmest manner I can...
VINYL TOOK HER SHADES OFF!!!
I too felt the same way about the two, before the episode even aired, but I began to just accept it.
And I noticed Vinyl taking her glasses off too, but I wasn't really excited about it. Not realy a huge Vinyl Scratch fan. Still doesn't beat the episode where Derpy talks.

They probably did, but it was just a kiss. It doesn't mean anything shipping related at all.
Granted the animators were probably playing with us there, but as a person who is 100% against shipping, especially regarding Dashie, I think it was just a friendly expression of affection as a friend.

Okay I just finished the season fanale. Now that's and EPIC way to end a season... with an EPIC PONY WAR!
The evil villain was amazing, the plot was predictable but well executed, and the music was absolutely perfect. Normally I hate when characters break into song, but these were so well done they rang harmoniously in my ears.
I think it's safe to say Disney now has a competition.

Chrysalis? You mean the Changeling Queen? Is that a fan name like Derpy Hooves, because I don't remember her name ever revealed in the episode.
But anyway, she was a major contributing factor as to why I liked this episode. Totallly badass villain. Thankfully her defeat was not exactly permanent like with the past two villains... we might just get the pleasure of seeing her again in the next season.

It was revealed by one of the layout artists after the episodes aired. However, before this the fans were actually already coming up with names. The most notable was "Cheeselegs."

Sure, Chrysalis was a nice villain, but I think they could've developed her just a little more. She was kind of cheesey to me (no pun intended). Discord and Nightmare Moon at least had a history behind their evil/chaotic plans. Chrysalis seemed evil just for the sake of being evil.
Seeing how were pointing out little details, let me add to it...
Rainbow Dash kissed Fluttershy during the Changeling battle. Flutterdash much?
And there is a huge hint that love is a 7th element. Notice how we see the twinkle in the real Cadence's eyes back in the cave? Reminiscent of Episode 2 when Twilight realized the six elements through her friends and herself.

Her race is a parasitic alicorn/insectoid species that feeds on love, like mosquitoes feeding on blood. She just wanted to feed her subjects..
What more development does she need?

But her evil attitude is still unmotivated, which I find odd in an obviously very intelligent creature. At least with Nightmare Moon we have a nice long history to explain why she was twisted from good, and even with Discord we understand chaos is his very being, and we get an explaination that he is only awoken when there is significant disharmony between ponies.
Chrysalis and her Changeling army is just here wreaking havoc. For feeding on love, I know that's what they do, but why be so 'evil' about it? Is there no way love can be given freely to them? Perhaps not by ponies, but by another species capable of giving it?
I doubt parasites have any moral thought on their actions of survival, intelligent or not. IF you were a starving parasitic race struggling to survive, would you be 'nice-n'-polite' about it? No. At least Chrysalis was smart enough to be political about it, striking the heart of Equestria's main political structure to collapse the country's system to pave the way of her control, instead of willy-nilly attacking random places.
Love given freely to them? I guess not. Maybe those said "species capable of giving it" found them far to hideous and rendered them outcasts. That's enough motivation for a rather bitter attitude right there. And as time goes by with nothing but rejection, and therefore starvation, bitterness turns to hatred, thus becoming evil.

I immediately thought of this as well, and is the exact reason I actually sympathise with this villain out of everything she's done. Her character really has potential for such a heavy concept, which is why I hope to see her again.

Oh boy. Looks like SRF has been assimilated into the 'herd"... it will never look the same to me again.
Thanks for at least accepting it, and taking the change better than some others around here.

Anyway, I just found out something interesting. It has recently been revealed that Rebecca Dart was the designer of Chrysalis!
For those of you who may not know, she is a comic artist/animator who has also worked as background designer for George of the Jungle and location designer of Kid vs Kat.
I've seen some of her comic works, and I must say, some are very dark looking! Check out her Tumblr page:
Well, if you like to start things in chronological order, I suggest the first two-parter. However, the episodes that really cook and have turned many to the fandom, are:
- Read It and Weep (includes an epic Indiana Jones parody)
- Secret of My Excess (can you spot the Aliens theme music?)
- Lesson Zero (good lord, Twilight looks scary when she has a mental breakdown!)
- MMMystery on the Friendship Express (love the James Bond reference)
However, my favorite episodes - and probably the most epic - ever made, are these:
- A Canterlot Wedding - Part 1
- A Canterlot Wedding - Part 2
Seriously, a mystery, paranoia, suspense, and straight up action, complete with explosions. Plus a great villain song, just like older Disney movies use to have. Back when Disney actually had good movies... However, you might not like the BBBFF song at the beginning, as a new recruit. I know I didn't like the songs either my first time watching.
However, the trick is to not stop at just one episode, even if you become a little intimidated. The minimum 'requirement' is at least two, or three. (I suggest three if you watch the CW 2-parter).
So anyway, enjoy, and don't worry about it if you end up liking it. This is a great fandom. If you feel comfortable keeping your enjoyment of it a secret, that's fine, but expressing your interest is encouraged. I do... everyone knows, and I'm okay with it. No one has called me gay or anything yet.

BTW, that was a swoosh sound when Dash lifted Flutters back to her feet. Plus their faces were very close midway through the action, but mixed together it's easy to confuse it for a quick kiss.
