This is tricky, especially since this aircraft and all planned variants are unbuilt. Choose wisely, friends.

Looks like a single-wing variant of the VFW VC-400 tilt-wing project, which had two tandem wings (quadrotor). I must admit I've never seen this one...

Nope, not a VFW project.

MBB Bo.140M military configuration.

There were really only two variants, this one and the civil Bo.140Z (below).

A question for Stingray: when dealing with an unbuilt type, however many variants there might have been on paper, shouldn't we stick to the main quiz topic, and keep the one here for variants (built or unbuilt) of built types? At least that's the way I thought it was.

It can be both. Whichever you personally prefer.

For constantly reminding myself at how much I'm slacking off on finishing a certain "section" of my site, I remember this one very well. But, pass. I want to see others get it. wink

Though, I think the players deserve a hint:

There was only one airframe of this aircraft built. All of the variants are simply modifications done to the same aircraft, as evident by having the same registration under the different designations.

Although I have never seen it uncovered before, I'd venture that this is the Nagler VG-1 Vertigyro because of the identical general layout.

Alright, but since your mister "by the book," what's the variant designation?

Is this what you think of me? Sounds awful the way you put it...

Well, anyway, I don't know the answer. I never knew there were "variants" to the Camcopter yet.

 Stephane,

You just seemed to be a bit irritated with our liberal interpretations of the rules for some of these games so I was attempting a bit of humor.  Sorry if I offended you.  No harm meant I promise.  Scorpio is correct it's the Schiebel S-100.  Since you were both had part of the answer I'm a bit perplexed over who should go next.  Perhaps the two of you should come up with a super hard variant for the rest of us.  Clearly i am not up to the challenge as you guys figure them out almost before I post them.  Next time, I'm finding an obscure Huey variant, just you wait!biggrin

Irritated? Heck, no! Confused is more like it. Although I do work as a moderator on this forum, I clearly leave it into Stingray's hands to organize things as he pleases (which, quite obviously, is not the way I would do it). My impression was this: if we have two topics that are very similar, to the point that people keep posting stuff in the wrong one, then why keep two separate topics at all? To me, "Rotorcraft recognition" would be enough provided one must specify the precise version/designation.

Ok, it might be might turn to eat a bit of crow but all I can find that variant called is a  "An experimental R-4 with a tilting tail rotor "  If it has a designation, I couldn't find it.  So is there a variant designation?
