Proposal of the LHX but I don't know which corporation it belongs to. Could just be an artist's impression.

This is a South African attack helicopter concept I came across a while back. Could this be a projected upgrade to the Rooivalk?

Gosh! Counter-rotating MTR?!?!?

Has single rotor MTR been tested and proven at all on any demonstrator?

And how does this have anything to do with the MTR program?

Possible Herrick designs found by Hesham. The last one is from AirTrails, 1950, found by Jemiba.

While researching the online NASA photo archives, I stumbled across this amazing autogiro project dated May 1934. Ever seen that before? I'm also providing a cleaned-up, reduced version of it for your site, Stingray, but the company that originated the design is still unknown to me...

Also note that an autogiro rotor was tested during the same month by NASA... possibly the same project?

It looks like it to me. The supporting tripod is the same shape as the rotor hub.

That doesn't really make it the same project, Leela. wink

Look at the size of the rotor and test rig... it almost matches the scale of the Autogyro in the drawing. Interesting idea having the co.ckpit as part of the hub too.

Don't you just LOVE these old painted advertisements from the 1950s when everything seemed possible? Well I certainly do! Here's one of my favorite, the Solar Copter. Neat stuff, eh? wink

An old advertisement, presumably from Popular Science or a similar mag.
